What is Manuscript Momentum?
Manuscript Momentum is a focused, one-on-one troubleshooting session for writers who feel stuck. You’ll send me up to 15 pages and tell me where you’re struggling. I’ll read with those concerns in mind, and then we’ll spend an hour identifying what’s happening on the page and finding a practical way forward.
How it works
Book your session
You complete a short questionnaire and send your pages to me at least seven days beforehand.
I read and prepare
I examine the pages in light of the questions and concerns you’ve shared and make notes and comments.
We meet for one hour
We talk through what I’m seeing and determine your clearest next steps.
Why 15 pages? Why one hour?
Fifteen pages won’t tell me everything about your manuscript. But they can show me how the problem you’re experiencing is manifesting on the page.
Before our session, you’ll tell me where you’re stuck, what you’re trying to accomplish, and what concerns you most. I’ll examine the pages with those questions in mind. Often, a difficulty that feels sprawling and impossible comes down to a pattern we can identify: an unclear character desire, a scene that isn’t creating change, too much distance from the protagonist, competing story directions, or a mismatch between what you intend and what the reader experiences.
This isn’t a comprehensive manuscript evaluation. It’s a focused look at the obstacle directly in front of you, so you can understand it and decide what to do next.
An hour gives us time to look beyond surface symptoms, talk through what you intended, and identify the most useful next steps without overwhelming you with an entire revision plan.
A Manuscript Momentum session includes:
