The Character Choreography Course helps you learn how to conceive of physical environments in your story, place your characters in those spaces and move them around with skill—without distracting the reader and jolting them out of the narrative.
In this course I’ll introduce you to the S.P.A. Method, a proprietary system you can use over and over again as you write your manuscripts to anchor your reader in the environment and make your characters believably inhabit the places in your story!
This course if for you if:

👉🏻 You’ve got a troublesome scene that just isn’t coming together and you don’t know why.

I LOVE HELPING WRITERS!
So many of my clients (and, TBH, myself too!) struggle with what to do with characters in the physical spaces they occupy in their manuscripts. So I developed a simple method to structure the way you think about the indoor and outdoor spaces in relation to your story, your characters, and their meaning: the S.P.A. method (join the course to discover what this is!).
If you want to make your characters live on the page and avoid white-room syndrome, awkward movements, unnecessary and distracting detail, and repetitive prose, be sure to join us in The Character Choreography Workshop!

FAQs:
Q: I don’t have a first draft. Am I ready to take this course?
A: The Character Choreography Workshop is for writers at any level and all stages of the process of writing a fiction (or memoir) manuscript. The examples will get you thinking and you’ll learn a method you can use in your future work.
Q: Why do I need this course?
A: All writers struggle with translating what they see in their heads to the page, especially when it comes to the physical environment and spaces. You either leave it too vague and non-specific (white-room syndrome) or load up unnecessary detail and distract the reader from the story. The Character Choreography Course provides a proprietary method to help you approach those environments and spaces in a way that enables you to bring your characters alive on the page—without jolting your readers out of the story by providing too much distracting information. It works hand-in-glove with whatever story structure method you’re using.
Q: How does your experience matter in this course?
A: I have countless examples of past work to draw on, and I’ve worked with clients who have many different learning styles and challenges to overcome. My close study of storycraft has led to insights that inform my 1:1 coaching, workshop teaching, and course development.
Q: I’m a “pantser.” Will I find this course helpful?
A: The great thing about this course is that you can use the methods either when you’re drafting or when you’re revising. If you need to be untrammeled as you sweat the words on the page, the S.P.A. Method can easily be applied at the revision stage.
Q: How much time will this take?
A: As with all self-paced courses, a lot of that depends on how much time you have to devote to it. But learning the method and how to apply it can take as little as a couple of hours a week for the three weeks over which the course modules are released.
